Terms of use

These terms cover your use of Coffee to World. By creating an account you agree to them.

This is a draft. Our lawyer has not yet reviewed it, and the final version will replace it.

One account is for one business. The business may hold more than one role, such as supplier and exporter.

You need an Ethiopian mobile number. You log in with it, using a 6-digit code we text you. Anyone who can read your texts can open your account, so keep your phone to yourself.

The details you give must be true and kept up to date, and you must be allowed to act for the business.

New accounts start as pending. You can browse the marketplace, but you cannot buy or list until our team has checked your licence and documents. What we check depends on your role:

• Suppliers: supplier business licence.
• Exporters: export business licence.
• International buyers: foreign company registration.

When a licence expires, your account is suspended automatically. Buying and listing stay switched off until our team has checked the renewed licence.

We may reject or suspend an account whose details we cannot confirm. We tell you why.

On the local market, verified suppliers sell and verified suppliers and exporters buy, in ETB.

On the export market, verified exporters sell and verified international buyers buy, in USD.

These rules follow who Ethiopian law allows to trade coffee on each market. They are not settings anyone can change for you.

A listing must describe the coffee truthfully, including its origin, grade, processing, quantity and asking price.

Coffee to World is the other side of every trade. It buys from the seller at the seller's asking price and sells to the buyer at its own price, which is shown on the marketplace. Buyers and sellers are not told who the other is.

Asking to buy holds the quantity for you while Coffee to World looks at your request. A request is not a sale: Coffee to World may decline it, and it becomes a trade only once you have signed a contract with Coffee to World.

Once a trade's contracts are signed, Coffee to World records each step, and each side sees its own. Payments do not pass through the website: a payment step records that money moved, it does not move it.

If something goes wrong with an order or a sale, tell Coffee to World. Our team looks into it, deals with the other side if needed, and tells you what was decided.

Every trade uses a written contract between you and Coffee to World, signed electronically. That contract has its own terms, which apply alongside these.

We may suspend or close an account that does any of these.

• Giving false details or documents.
• Using someone else's account or mobile number.
• Trying to get around the rules on who may trade what.
• Trying to find out who is on the other side of a trade, or to trade with them around Coffee to World.

You can ask us to close your account by emailing hello@coffeetoworld.com.

You are responsible for the coffee you list and for the trades you enter into.

To be confirmed by our lawyer: Our own responsibility, any limits on it, and which law and courts apply are to be set by our lawyer.
